Where products are being marketed and sold across the EC common legal, technical and safety standards are required. The letters CE shown on a product means that manufactures meet for example essential safety requirements set down in directives issued by the European Commission.

Manufacturers who claim that their products conform to the specifications may use the mark. Where goods are found not to meet the requirements the goods can be seized and the manufacturer, importer or supplier prosecuted.

The e mark:

The e mark on a product package indicates that a system known as ‘The Average System of Weights and Measures’ is being used. Packages made up to a fixed, pre-determined weight or volume of contents must be marked with that weight or volume. Specific rules exist to ensure that the contents of the package contain on average the normal quantity stated. The mark must be at least 3mm high and be placed in the same field of vision as the normal quantity.

The Mobius Loop is used on all paper products that can reasonably be expected to be recycled.

The Mobius Loop with Percentage:

This contains x% of recycled material. However, use of this symbol is voluntary. Some goods contain recycled materials but do not carry this symbol. Recycled content does not mean it is necessarily better for the environment and it is often inappropriate, particularly for packaging used for food, toiletries and cosmetics.

The Green Dot:

This shows that a fee has been paid for the recovery of the packaging in some European countries.

The Tidy Man Symbol:

This is a common symbol found on products which encourages the user to dispose of the packaging responsibly.

The Lion mark:

The Lion Mark was developed in 1988 by the British Toy & Hobby Association as a symbol of toy safety and quality for the consumer. The Lion Mark may only be used by BTHA members.

It’s easy to fail a driving test if you really try. First, park your car so close to the next car that examiner cannot get into your car to begin the test. It also helps to have your two front wheels far up on the curb-blocking the sidewalk if possible. Second, back out of the parking space really fast. After that, try to hit something such as another car. Don’t stop or even slow down at stop signs, but speed up to get through intersections quickly? Fifth, try to make your tires squeal while turning corner. Next, look for an opportunity to turn the wrong way on a one-way street. Entering a freeway in the wrong direction will cause you to fail immediately. Finally, don’t stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, but use your horn to frighten them out of your way. Just one of these techniques will probably get you an F on a driving test, and two or more certainly.

Second, mix the apples with 1 cup of sugar and ½ teaspoon of spice. You can use cinnamon or nutmeg as a spice. Next, sift 2 cups of flour and ½ teaspoon of salt into a large bowl. Then cut ¾ cup of shortening into the flour with two knives. Sprinkle ¼ cup of ice-cold water over the dough, and mix it in with a fork. Then shape half of the dough into a ball, and flatten it. Next, roll out the flattened ball into a circle, but don’t roll it out too thinly. After that, lay he rolled-out crust into a pie pan carefully. Then put the apples into the pie pan and dot them with 2 tablespoon of butter. Next, roll out the other haft of the dough into a circle, and put it on top of the pie. Finally, bake the pie at 450 for 10 minutes and then at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes longer. Bake it until the top crust is brown, but don’t let it get too brown.

This pain can be quite strong. It is caused by unequal air pressure outside and inside your ears. The air pressure in the airplane maybe at 15,000 feet, but the air pressure inside your ears is still at ground level. Airlines recommend the following techniques to stop the pain. Pinch your nose closed with your fingers, and pretend to blow your nose. This action makes the pressure equal and usually stops the pain. You can also yawn several times, or you can swallow hard. Children can chew gum, and babies can suck on a bottle or a pacifier.
