
I read on some blogs, they said that CPM should not appear anymore, because it is not fair for advertiser. They think that if people didn’t click on ads, why advertiser must pay for that ad unit?
In my opinion, CPM is similar with outside banner – which is showed in the street. Advertiser must pay for those ads, a lot of money during a fix time ( 1 month or more). Because people will see this ad, so advertiser can bring their brand into customer’s mind. They make their brand more popular.
So, with those reasons why don’t advertiser pay for publisher for CPM ads? I think it is not fair for publisher while every day some ads rotated on valuable positions on publisher’s website. CPM doesn’t need to take a high price but it is must have, because if you put a banner in a website, which have 10,000 unique visitors per day, then it means you are showing your brand to same number of visitors,; if you pay for each view 0.001$ then you just pay 10$ for 10,000 time-to-show!
Although nowadays advertiser doesn’t love CPM, but I think one day they will want to pay just for showing their ads. And publishers, we can request advertising company paid for us for what we are promoting.
